This will be my 9th year to be a part of the Northwest family and my 14th year in 4th grade and one year teaching 5th grade.  I have been in public education for 15 years and previously worked in Denton ISD where I taught 4th grade self-contained, math/science, and was an inclusion teacher.  My first year in public education was in Lake Worth ISD where I taught 4th grade. I student taught in Lewisville ISD, as well as worked as a middle school aide in a transitional unit.

Paul Solarz writes, "Children learn best when they are encouraged and empowered to explore their passions and curiosities. My hope is that I empower my students to dig deep and desire learning.  To not be satisfied with the status quo.  To push further and farther. To make the world a better place.  In order to do that, I have to do the same. Lead by example.  Keep questioning, leading, facilitating. I want students who are passionate about learning: reading, writing, solving problems, finding ways to leave a mark on the world. I know that we will have challenges, and some days I won't have all the answers.  But that is okay. As @ischooltravis said, "Work hard. Fail a lot. But learn more." This is my mantra. #fearlessin4th
