Students in Grades 3rd, 4th and 5th are invited to join the Ultimate Book Challenge at the beginning of every school year. Each year the district librarians select a collection of books for students to read for the challenge. Students eat lunch in the library once a week in the fall to practice for the campus competition that is held every December. The winning team moves to the District level competition that is held in February.
At Justin ES students are encouraged to read for pleasure and create a reading goal for themselves. October through March Pizza Hut provides students the opportunity to earn a free personal pizza for meeting their reading goal. Each month during the Book It program a calendar and goal setting tracker will be sent home. Students can write their monthly goal, track it and return the monthly tracker to the library to earn their pizza coupon. This is an optional way to reward yourself for your reading goal.
